The DePaul Roller Hockey Club was founded in 2005 by several students who formed a team for a men's roller hockey league in Mt.Prospect, IL. After finishing second place in their first men's league season, the team went on to join the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association to compete against other collegiate teams in the Midwest. The NCRHA is a co-ed collegiate league pitting inline hockey teams against each other from universities across the country. In 2006 our club joined division II of the MCRHL (Midwest Collegiate Roller Hockey League) to face-off against schools such as Akron, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, and others. The Roller Demons had a steady run in the MCRHL, traveling to the regional tournament for the first time in 2010.
In 2013, the team had to drop out of the MCRHL when most of the players graduated leaving too few players to form a team. However the following year the Roller Demons were back to compete in a local rec league in Palatine. After some internal club reform and re-branding, the team was ready to come back to the collegiate league. In the 2016-2017 season DePaul Roller Hockey won its first regional championship in organization history, also marking the team's first trip to the NCRHA national tournament
Our home rinks are the Salt Creek Sports Center in Palatine, IL and the Central Community Center in Mt. Prospect, IL. Regular season games are played tournament style, with 1-2 weekend tournaments per month; 5-6 tournaments per season with weekly practices in between. During the off-season the club holds an alumni game, and often participates in tournaments and recreational leagues at the local rinks.
